Singapore: Changes to criteria for dependent privileges, Jobs Bank, and advertisements for employment pass applications

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) had made several important announcements this week. First, the fixed monthly salary for work pass holders to qualify for dependent privileges is set to increase. From January 1, 2018, work pass holders would need to earn at least S$6,000 to bring in their spouse/children on Dependent Passes (DP) and common-law spouse on a Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) and a minimum fixed monthly salary of S$12,000 to bring in their parents on an LTVP.

Second, the Jobs Bank portal has integrated with MySkillsFuture - all existing company profiles, job postings, and job applications will be saved in the new portal. In addition, the new Jobs Bank portal now allows employers to revise advertisement details such as occupation and salary. Revised Jobs Bank advertisements would need to be published for at least 14 calendar days from the change before being used to support an Employment Pass (EP) application. MOM also reminds employers to meet the Jobs Bank advertising requirements before submitting an EP application.
